BILLIARDS FAQS
How much space do I need?
We'll do the math:
Your pool table measures: 8' x 4.5' OR 96" x 54"
Your standard cue stick measures: 58"
Room length needed: 96" + (2 x 58") = 214" or 17.7'
Room width needed: 54" + (2 x 58") = 170" or 14.1'
You will need a room that measures at least 17.7' x 14.1' to accommodate an 8' x 4.5' standard pool table.
What is "slatron"?
Slatron is a plastic coated MDF that offers the smoothness of slate, with the economics of an MDF playfield. While certainly not as durable as actual slate, slatron is much lighter and far less expensive.
What is bumper pool?
Bumper pool is a billiards game that offers the strategy and depth of traditional pool games in a fraction of the space. The goal of bumper pool is to sink your 5 balls into the pocket opposite of your starting location. There is no cue ball, and 12 - 16 bumpers block your shots. The real trick to bumper pool is strategically placing your balls in front of your opponent's to block and deflect shots, while sinking your own.
DARTS FAQS
How much space do I need?
Regulation darts are played on a 17.75" dartboard, with the bulls-eye placed 5.77' (1.73m) above the floor. Your toe line, sometimes called an oche, should be 7.89' (2.37m) from the face of the dartboard. While this may sound daunting on paper, it really isn't. To put it into perspective most couches are placed at 7.5' away from a 59" TV for comfortable viewing.
How do I play Cricket?
Cricket is a commonly played dart game that involves two to four players or teams. Generally, its goal is to "open" or "close" all the numbers and end with the same or more points as their opponent. Once a number is open and a dart lands on its corresponding section, points can be awarded.
To "open" a number, a player must land on a number three times on one or more turns. Reversely, landing on an "open" number three times will "close" it. Players use this method to strategically sabotage a player's "open" streak. To win, a player must open all their numbers and end with the most points.
How do I play 301/501/701?
The 301 (or other values) Dart Game involves two individuals or teams and start with 301 points each. The basic idea of the game is to subtract the number of points achieved from 301. The goal is to reach 0 first without going below.
In order to subtract points from the initial 301 point total, a player would need to hit a number twice. This action is called "doubling-in". To win the game, a player must "double-out", or hit a number twice on their last turn, to reach 0. If a player doesn't land a double number or has a score below 0, it's considered a bust and their score returns to what it was before the start of their turn.
What's the difference between tungsten and brass?
Tungsten is a very dense, and durable metal. This means when you buy a tungsten dart you are purchase a dart with a very small barrel. This means your groupings can be tighter, which is crucial in games like Cricket or 501. Tungsten resists the knurling texture used to help with grip wearing away from use, but it can also be expensive. Brass on the other hand is less durable, less expensive, and the larger barrels may be easier to grip. Darts is a game about consistency, so it's important to find a comfortable grip with your dart.
TABLE TENNIS FAQS
How much space do I need?
The average table tennis table is 9' x 5', and you will want some room behind that. The minimum amount of space you will require is 17' long, and 9' wide. That will give you some room to walk beside the table, and some room to play on either of the short ends. If you plan on playing doubles, I suggest you extend that by another 4', that way you don't collide into each other.
